The situation
Redwood wanted to expand from flatmate-matching into event discovery. It had no internal development capacity, the event data was scattered across inconsistent APIs, and it needed a working proof of concept inside three weeks to show investors and partners.
What we did
- A two-phase prototype: event-platform APIs integrated first, then custom UI with personalised filtering on top.
- Worked through deprecated endpoints and sparse documentation, collaborating with the platforms' own developers where needed.
- Delivered fully documented code with a clear architecture, so the next developer would not start from zero.
What changed
A live, working prototype in under three weeks. Redwood's product scope grew from flatmate finder to community connector, the future roadmap was de-risked, and the clean, documented code gave the team development autonomy.
